BOV, Next Chapter and members of the UNC Board of Visitors will gather for a reception at CURRENT, the new Carolina Performing Arts facility on Franklin Street. This event will present the future of the arts at Carolina. The 3,000-square-foot Studio at CURRENT is a hub for creativity and collaboration.

Members of the BOV Student Career Services Committee are arranging small group career dinners with UNC students to share their own career experiences and answer questions about entering the workforce. They will gather at a variety of area restaurants.

BeAm@Carolina is a network of spaces focused on the design and making of physical objects for education, research, entrepreneurship and recreation. Through emerging technologies, such as 3D printing, wood and metalworking shops, student, faculty and staff participate in open studios, training sessions and workshops. We will learn how the university is saving thousands of dollars by teaching staff members to create their own custom designs for research and providing a space for tomorrow’s creations.

We began Thursday talking about the next chapter in volunteering for Carolina. Greg Ellis, former Tar Heel defensive end and All-American, knows about next chapters. He was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in the first round of the 1998 NFL Draft and played a season with the Oakland Raiders. After 12 years in the NFL, he is telling stories through drama. We will talk with him about going from playing football to making a movie about the sport

Also, we will enjoy music by the Big Fat Gap, NC bluegrass band.
